Maria Palasari Cave is not far from Sacred Heart of Jesus Church Palasari. In Palasari village, the majority of the population is Catholic. And they still hold local cultural customs. For example when worshiping, they wear traditional Balinese clothes, in every religious celebration they install penjor which is identical to the celebration of Hinduism.

It was built in 1962, relocated on December 1983 and inaugurated on September 15, 2008 by the Vatican Ambassador to Indonesia Mgr Leopoldo Girelli. Cave of St Mary Palasari and Sacred Heart of Jesus Church Palasari is one of the most popular Catholic pilgrimage destinations for Catholic tourists.
